Gestalt Therapy
The word "gestalt" is a German term and generally means the whole formation - meaning its approach incorporates a blend of the mind, emotions and body.
Gestalt Therapy puts the focus on what you are experiencing in the ‘here and now’, while acknowledging how the past impacts the present. By staying in the ‘here and now’, with self-awareness, and attending to your needs in any given experience, a clear understanding of thoughts, emotions, and behaviour can come to light and create change.
I love Gestalt Therapy because it is gentle and not focused on the story of our lives, but more so how experiences have shaped us. The main aspects of Gestalt Therapy is the ‘here and now’, dialogue, and how we bring ourselves into relationship with others and the world through our expression.
Phenomenology is the experience of noticing what we feel in our body, as opposed to think in our mind. We, as humans, often cut off noticing what our bodies are feeling and telling us, and live more in our heads. Gestalt Therapy gently reminds us to tap into the wisdom and voice of our body, and find ways to acknowledge and express its natural rhythm.
Common benefits of Gestalt Therapy include, but are not limited to:
-
increasing self-awareness and self-confidence,
-
an ability to make peace with the past and an improved sense of acceptance,
-
increased ability to deal with life’s stressors, and
-
increased self-responsibility, awareness and control for one’s own experiences, behaviours, and coping mechanisms.

Gestalt Prayer
"I do my thing and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you and I am I,
And if by chance we meet in the middle, it is beautiful.
and if not, it cannot be helped."
Fritz Perls, 1969

"Tracy has been working with people for over 20 years and this shows in her interaction with a diversity of people. Tracy is authentic, relatable, passionate about people, and their mental health and wellness. It is not what she does for a job, it is who she is as a human. Tracy has the ability to connect and go to places with people that is wise, heartfelt, on point and where the healing happens. Tracy’s approach creates safety and allows healing and growth to occur in a beautiful way. I have referred interstate people to Tracy for years, and I will continue to do so."
